Work day this coming Saturday @ Pic Nic to cut up the tree that fell over the path on hole one for anyone that can make it. Bring a chain saw please. I will be there @ 9am. Thanks Cookie
First time out to the lake in A LONG TIME yesterday...wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it probably would of been.
Only a few of the teeboxes were really in bad shape...though I'm sure a lot of the sleeves need to be located and fixed. We need to pull, fix, and replant 18s bench. I vote to leave the tree that has grown up under it to provide some shade on 18 in a few years. We'll also have a few trash cans to empty. But really over all it looked fairly good out there...and was nice to play the course again!
Tools that will be needed are: wide end pic-axe, sharp shooter, PHD, chain and rock bar to pull rebar, sledge hammer. We'll also need a cordless drill and screws to repair a bench or two.
2nd Work day for the Crush is set for this weekend...Feb. 9th.
I know we have poles to paint and number at the lake. Move baskets into position at Lake. Are we fixing sleeves? If so who's bringing a welder? Are we doing the concrete cup deal? We have weedeating and general clean up at South Concho. Might need to move a few teeboxes at South Concho. Possible clean up on hole 4 at S.C.
I'm not sure who all is coming, but I've got Coby and hopefully you lined up with weedeaters. So you and whoever else shows up can tackle 14 and 4's clean up. I'll start moving teeboxes with whoever else is there. I don't think there are many to move. Once we get done there, it should be close to time for Cookie to get off and we'll meet at the lake to finish up out there and....hopefully be ready for the Crush early!!!
I get off @ 12 on Friday and will be heading out to the lake to get started on some painting and a few other things if anyone wants to head that way around 1. Need some shovels I will have everything else Thanks Cookie
Finished painting the lake yesterday. Just a couple of small things left and the courses should be ready to go for the Crush. Thanks to those that came out Saturday and worked. Jason, Coby, Gary, Sean, Patty and myself. Disc Golf salutes you for all you do to keep DG going in San Angelo!
Just a reminder there will be a work day this Saturday at N Concho to take care of the mowing and grass on the island hole. We will meet at 9 am. Thanks Cookie
It's funny....I posted something a long the same lines as my above post on the CVDGA facebook page. So far 19 different individuals have seen the post, 1 has taken the time to post an actual Thank You...and he doesnt' even live in San Angelo(though he has done his share of work days - Brandn), 1 took the time to click 'like'(another former board member who has moved on Cody), 2 have just replied with "Sunday", and the others just choose to move on to the next post....when a "thank you guys for spending your Saturday making the course look awesome" would go a long ways!
Thank You Guys! I appreciate all you do and the personal time on the weekends that you give back to disc golf. Disc Golf courses in San Angelo would not be maintained without this same dedicated group of guys that go out and take time to care for our courses. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
IF anyone out there can't seem to make work days but would like to start helping out please contact a board member. There is usually something that needs tending to at a course that it does not take a work day to accomplish and we can let you know what you can go out and do during the time you have to help out. I know the Trash Cans at the Lake always seem to be an issue, so if you are out there playing and have a pickup, go around to a few cans and put them in the back of your truck and take them right there to the dumpster by Tee 3 and dump them and then put them back on the course. This will take about 10 minutes and if I can go out there and empty all the cans then I know a few of you guys that go out there and play regularly could tackle one or two, if not all.........
