I got invited to play on a team when this thing was first put together, but had to decline in favor of Wild Hair preparation stuff. I do hope to make this next year.
I've always thought some kind of team event would be soo much fun, but that idea just hasnt caught on around here much. Most people around here are still saying "Team event....whats that?" And I think this year (at least for Abilene folks) the timing was unfortunate as this event is sandwiched between 2 Abilene events. Plus it was put together fairly quickly so the word didnt get spread as much. NO blames or excuses or nothing negative...just things that I see might have hurt out of town turnout. Since this event is going to be established, it will grow with time. I'm hoping the team event we do in the Fall will get people around here more excited about team play. Good luck with it!!

I figured, especially with you as the TD of the Wild Hair, but with most Abilene guys it would be hard to make it. Especially when I found out about the fundraiser event being on the 13th. The main reason we picked this weekend was because we knew several people wouldn't be able to attend the Wild Hair this year from here....but we still wanted to play a tourney this month. So we set it for this date. Next year it will be spaced out away from the Wild Hair at least 2 weeks...if it's even the same month.
I tell you Jerry, if you could just get a team together for Texas Teams this year(if it's happens of course) the word would spread like a wild fire about how fun a "team event" can be. When I put together my first texas team team, I had no idea.....just sounded fun since several of us were a hockey team at one point. 3 Texas Teams later, I'd miss every other tourney there was if I had to just to make Texas Teams again, including the Crush! :-O
I see this event like our Ice Bowl...if we can just draw in 1 or 2 out of town teams this year, next year that will grow to 4 or 5. Just like I think we had maybe 3 or 4 Abilene guys for the first Eola Ice Bowl...this year that number went through the roof(thanks again btw). I'm sure Texas Teams didn't start out with 300 players, it had to grow with time.(with all this Texas Team talk, guess it's time to send Mr. Houck an email asking about it to see what the word looks like)
Can't wait to hear some more info about you guys team event you are planning. Got any info at this point you wanna share? :-c

With so many little events and new courses popping up all over the region, there may be a real need to get all the main stakeholders in the area together before next year to hammer out all these dates.
Most of the big events are set and prob wont change much, but that wasnt the case 4 years ago. All the scheduling conflicts that year is what lead me to getting the regional newsletter going (with patricks help). We may need to take another step and get everyone together to hopefully space everything out in such a way that all events have the best chance of drawing from everyone. We can talk about it a little more towards the end of the year, but It might be time to think about it. At the very least, maybe Abilene and SA folks can get together since we draw from each others player pool the most.

I'd say this for sure, might be hard to get all W.T. involved...it would be nice though. But Abilene and S.A. do kind of depend on each other patting each other's back.
Got another team signed up, so the ones that are in for sure at this point are:
Warlock1 Blo a blob of jizzle CTP(carl, tammy, patrick) Team Name(Cody, MIkey, Matt) Those Guys(Guthrie, Ed, splash) Hammer Heads(brown ryan guys) Team DFL(odessa guys, plus justy)
With 2 other teams waiting on one person each to finish registration: Warlock2(waiting on Nick) Makin' Waves(waiting on Gary Wells)
These people can still sign up even after today, they just won't get a players pack if they don't get here before 5pm TODAY!
As of right now we are at 9 teams(if the two above get in), we were originally hoping for 10....so maybe one more will pop up, but 9 isn't bad for the first year.
Ok guys, I have 2 people signed up that are wanting to to play this weekend. But we are needing a third to fill the team....if anyone know anyone that might be interested please get them in and signed up!!!!(Gary and Bennett are the two)
Sean, frenchy, and my name is going to look really good on that first place trophy. on another note i wanted everyone to know that there is going to be a change to the north concho course that i made. im taking out the two holes where you threw towards the bridge and back on the next hole. instead im going to mow about a 75 ft circle across the street where the tall grass is and spray paint along the edge of the circle and make it an island hole. also jason told me of a elevated basket we could put in the middle just to make it a little more difficult. so the idea is that you throw across the street and make it in the circle and if you dont make it in, there will be a drop zone. once in the drop zone you will still have to make it in the island.
Picnic Bend is the meeting place. That is where you are to check in and pick up your player packs from 7:30-8:15.
Players meeting at 8:30(no you can not just show up at this time to get your players pack, you'll have to wait till lunch if you are late)
Once the players meeting is over, we will be split into 2 pools, the different pools will start on different courses. So help prevent back ups and help speed of play. Once done, you will need to drop your score card off back at Picnic and head off to lunch.
We'll again meet at Picnic after the lunch break and you'll again be sent on your way in different pools to play the alternate rounds.
After you have played all 3 9s of Alternate shot, you will return to Picnic one more time with your score cards.
GOOD NEWS...at least for Gary and Bennett that is!!!!
I got you guys a third coming, so we've now hit 13 teams in the first year of this event...which is just awsome! Matty from San Marcos just happens to be coming to town this weekend and said he'd join up with you guys to kick some ass! b-(
WOW, what a great event. I hope everyone had as good of a time as I did at this first, but certainly not the last Menage A Trois!!!
I'd like to thank our 2 sponsors for the event, Brown Ryan Constructions, and Cortese Flag & Silkscreen.
I'd also like to thank JIZZLE for heading this up this weekend, thanks to Nick for taking care of North Concho and making it looks so good with mowed teeboxes, and the circle of doom hole! And thanks to everyone that brought out baskets!
And of course I'd like to thank all the players that came out to support this First Ever Menage A Trois. A big thanks to Odessa/Midland for coming down in force! I think this has the potential to be a very big event in the near future. I've already got some ideas for next year...and I'm sure JC does as well. So expect bigger and better next time around.
I'd like to congratulate Teams Warlock on our sweep of the event. Wish my name was going on that trophy, but since it can't...I can't think of a better team to go on it. I know you were the favorite to win, but I think you got pushed not only by the other Warlock team, but also team CTP. I imagine next year the competition will only be tougher for all of us.
scores: Warlock2 228 Warlock1 242 CTP 250 Low Putt 253 Team Name 253 Stong Bad 258 Those Guys 261 ODG 273 Make Waves 279 DFL 281 Ching 282 Hammer Head 282 Last Least 285
Speaking of the circle of doom hole, how many people had trouble putting at that basket? I know when I had to putt from about 15' or so out, I really had to think about it....made the putt, but.... #:-S
