 8-21-2012 Weekly update time of the week is here once again. This week we have a full mini schedule ready to roll. We must have hit our second swing of tourneys cause there are a lot of them popping up over the next month or two. Midland is having a bag tag tourney this Saturday, the 1st Annual Tornado Open in Lamesa tourney is getting closer, Big Arms in Lubbock follows that one a week later, our local West Texas Doubles is two weeks after that, Big Spring’s Oneday~Funday will be the Sunday after the doubles. And now the Brownfield Bashers have released some info on their 1st Annual Basherpalooza scheduled for late October. So as you can see there is lot’s of disc golf tourneys coming up over the next couple of months.
Got a couple of things I want to touch on before we get into the update. 1st is HUGE THANKS to all who showed up Saturday to help get North Concho back into shape and closer to full completion of the island hole. The biggest thanks goes to Jack for getting that park mowed for us before Saturday so we could focus on the island hole. Jack has been a HUGE addition to the CVDGA family this year…and that tractor of his is a work horse!! Also thanks to Sean, Patty, Cookie, Sara, and Gary for the help Saturday. The work done looks awesome!
Also I’d like to point out that the CVDGA is having a BLOWUP year as far as memberships go. As a lot of you know we did a membership appreciation tourney a few weeks ago originally scheduled to celebrate hitting 50 members for the first time. Well before we could celebrate that we ended up hitting 60, and now hit 70 CVDGA dues paid members. Think disc golf is blowing up in San Angelo? Thanks to all 70 members for supporting the CVDGA!
MINIS
Wednesday’s hump-day mini is set for some handicapped singles at Picnic Bend. Teetime is 6pm. As you may have noticed it’s getting dark earlier and earlier, we are going to have to start limiting card size in order to finish before dark30!
Saturday’s mini is scheduled for random doubles at North Concho. Teetime is 10am.
Sunday’s lake mini will be at 2pm and the format is handicapped singles. Football season is quickly approaching which means it’s almost time to switch this mini back to skins match…so if you want to get a handicap round in at the lake this might be your last chance for a few months.
Brentwood Work Day
The workday for this weekend at Brentwood has been cancelled. We’ll let you know when it gets rescheduled.

Yes Lamesa has a disc golf course, and from what I hear it will surprise you at how good it is, so if you have no plans for labor day weekend head north for some DG in the land of sand!

9th Annual CVDGA’s West Texas Doubles
We are still a ways out on this one, so we get more into the details as it gets a little closer….but the main info you need to know at this point is:
Date: September 29th and 30th.
Online registration will be at www.discgolfunited.com
No day of registrations!
Courses to be played are Lake, Lake Temp, Brentwood, Picnic, and North Concho.

Big Spring’s One-Day Fun-Day
Again this one is a ways out so we’ll update more info as we get closer…for now save the date October 7th, 2012 and plan to be at Birdwell!
Brownfield’s 1st Annual Bashapalooza
Another one that is a ways out, but again save the date for this C tier event in Brownfield happening on October 20th and 21st.
