Update 3-24-08 Tuesday’s here again….which means weekly update time again. Kind of a slow week after the past few, this week in disc golf we’ve got 2 minis here in town. Then there are 2 area tourneys coming up in the next few weeks. Other than that, that’s about it.This week’s mid-week mini is set for Picnic Bend, and the format is handicapped Singles. Teetime is 6pm. For those that don’t know, the singles minis are now all handicapped. Once you have 2 rounds in at “the course of the week”, your handicap is set. Then the next time you go to that course your handicap will take effect. Handicapping these singles rounds last year really leveled the playing field so that everyone has a chance to win. Come on out and give it a try….. As always on non-tourney weekends, we’ve got the EVERY Sunday random doubles at the lake. Teetime for Sunday is 2pm.
Fort Stockton is the next area tourney on the schedule. The date for this one is April 4th – 5th. There will be 2 rounds of 22 on Saturday, followed by 1 round of 18 and a final 9 on Sunday. There will be CTPs during the rounds, and free brisket dinner and cold beer after the rounds on Saturday. There will also be added cash to the pro payout. Divisions offered: Pro $35 Masters $35 Grandmasters $35 Advanced $30 Intermediate $25 Amateurs (rec.) $20 Juniors $10 Women $15 For more information: Paul 432-290-0882, Danny 432-290-8177, or Mark 432-940-6735
Two weeks after Fort Stockton is the 2009 West Texas Disc Golf Champions Tournament in Big Spring. I’ve played in this event the past 3 years and let me tell you it’s a good one….and depending on the weather a test of endurance. You play 2 rounds of 27 on Saturday, then another 27 on Sunday. There will be trophies to the top 3 of each division, players packs to the first 100 entrants, free “limited space” camping, and $1000 + added to 100% payout. Divisions offered: Open $60 Open Masters $50 Adv. Master $40 Women $30 Advanced $50 Intermediate $35 Novice $20 Juniors $15 Ace pot $5 Day of Registration 8-9am Players meeting 9:30 FMI Greg Brooks 432-528-5076
